History
A small gem of the Baroque period, known to very few people, hidden away on the upper floor of this ancient little church. Elegantly renovated at the end of the 1700s, nicknamed the Rotonda dei Galluzzi, it is situated in the heart of the city. It stands right next to the court that belonged to the Galluzzi family, still today overlooked by the tower.
The gem we are referring to is the Oratorio dei Fiorentini, so called because in the days of old Florentine fabric merchants working the Bologna market met there. It was a place for meetings and prayer. Consequently it was decorated as a baroque church with perspective and figure frescoes, extremely rare because their creators left us no other such works.
Events
The restoration project of the Oratorio di San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini was conceived right from the start to make this work of architecture usable for cultural events, conferences, guided tours and special events. The structure has a high quality of static resistance, hygrothermal conditions and fire safety, indispensable features for conserving the cultural assets. |

The main part of the building is structured on various levels with some rooms used for offices, other for courses and a meeting room, all with access from a stairway with alternate flights from the ground floor all communicating with the Corte de’ Galluzzi.
The main hall, situated on the noble floor, is an impressive work of architecture because of the fresco decorations covering the walls and vaults. It has a conference table, a podium, a large projection screen and hi-tech equipment for audio and video recording of the events.

From its Venetian-style floor from the 1700s it is connected to two lovely drawing rooms with bow windows.
